Welcome to the sixty-second episode of "Roostertail Talk". For this episode, I felt like going back in time and taking a break from interviews. Most of us are missing racing and I want to relive a classic hydroplane race. Digging around the Roostertail Talk archives I pulled an audio recording of the 1995 Thunder on the Ohio H1 Unlimited race. Crank your speakers and relive this classic race as if you had traveled back to 1995!
Hello Loyal Listeners, Unfortunately, due to time restraints there is no episode for this week. I spent a lot of time preparing/editing/emailing for the 2021 Roger Newton Memorial Show last weekend for the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum and ERCU. This was a fully virtual event, and fortunately I was able to record the event. If you are interested, it is in two parts with the following links: In part 1 you will hear short speeches from David Williams (Director of HARM) and Nelson Holmberg (Chairman of ERCU). There is also a brief history of my father's involvement with hydroplane racing, from models to unlimiteds. Part 2 centers around Keynote speaker, Brian Buass. Brian is well known in NAMBA rc boat racing. He is an expert at anything to do with boat set up and talks about prop/rudder/skid fin set up.
Welcome to the sixty first episode of "Roostertail Talk". In part 2 I conclude my interview with Darrell Strong. Darrell goes further into his decision to hire both Corey Peabody and J. Michael Kelly as his drivers, goals for the year and updates with his brand new teams! Have fun listeners!
Welcome to the sixtieth episode of "Roostertail Talk". For the sixtieth episode I interviewed new H1 owner Darrell Strong. Darrell has made some big time moves in the offseason with purchasing the Jones and Ellstrom racing teams. We talk about his acquisitions but we also get to know Darrell a bit more, what hydroplane racing means to him, his family and the tri-cities. Enjoy!
Don't let the rain delay get you down at the Daytona 500. (BTW hydroplane racing is a water sport and wouldn't have a delay). Join new H1 owner Darrell Strong in a drive around the racetrack at the Apex Motor Club. Darrell joins us on the broadcast for episode 60 this Tuesday! Welcome to the fifty-ninth episode of "Roostertail Talk". In this episode I remember a great fan and person that the hydroplane community lost last week, Harry Gatjens. Join me as I reminisce about Harry, his passion for the sport of hydroplanes and how great a guy he was.
Welcome to the fifty-fifth episode of "Roostertail Talk". On September 25, 2020, Alejandro Agag and Rodi Basso announced a whole new form of powerboat racing; the UIM E1 World Electric Powerboat Series. Starting in 2022 this new racing series will be using all electric powered boats. Listen in for more details on this new series, and commentary on what this could mean for boat racing. Enjoy!
Welcome to the fifty-second episode of Roostertail Talk. This is part 2 of a 3 part episode in which my co-host, Jeff Bernard, along with myself interview Hydroplane Driver/Owner/Mechanic Nate Brown. In this episode Nate focuses on his years racing Unlimiteds with the Tide, Steve Woomer, Ellstrom Manufacturing and for Kim Gregory. Enjoy!
Welcome to the fiftieth episode of "Roostertail Talk". It is hard to believe we have reached 50 episodes in such little time! For the 50th episode, I talked with a child hydro hero of mine, Steve Reynolds. We talked about his love affair of hydroplane racing as a kid from growing up in the Seattle area, his racing career, favorite moments and the introduction of the enclosed canopy in hydroplane racing. Enjoy!
